I put 4 New all seasons on this truck on tuesday and the clutch went on thursday so yes it needs a clutch, the 4.3L V6 engine was rebuilt at around [removed phone], 4x4 works fine, if you can fix the clutch it is an awesome little truck I've had little problems with, but i can't afford the clutch right now, would make a superp part vehicle for an old s10, blazer etc the engine and tires are what this trucks all about
